West Ham have had a mixed campaign so far, with Mauricio Pellegrini yet to convince fans with his suitability for the post. He’s a talented manager, but he needs to pick up a few more results in order to ensure that he remains in London long-term.
It’s been a tough spell for some West Ham players under his managership, and that’s particularly true of Javier Hernandez. The Mexican has started just one league game so far this term, and if that doesn’t change over the coming weeks, surely it’s time for him to start thinking about a potential departure…
After all, the Mexican has found life tough back in England. He wasn’t a regular last season, and he’s started the season in similar fashion this term. With Marco Arnautavic clearly preferred, he’s struggled to get minutes in the first team, and that’s just not good enough.
For a player that was so crucial for Bayer Leverkusen, it’s fair to say that his time in England just hasn’t worked out, and that’s a real shame.
At 30-years-old, he’s at an age in which regular game time is needed. He’d certainly get that at other clubs, especially abroad, as he’s proven over the years that he’s more than good enough to get goals for practically any side. With electric pace, technical quality and consistency in front of goal, he’d be just the ticket for any number of other teams.
Pellegrini, though, just doesn’t seem to fancy him, and that looks unlikely to change judging by the first couple of months of the season.
